Further Updates to Malta Individual Investor Programme

Last week, the Malta Individual Investor Programme Agency (MIIPA) sent out a circular to all accredited agents, indicating that the programme’s 1800 application cap is being reached.

New applicants will be allowed to submit their residency application until 31st July 2020; while for candidates already in possession of a residency card, citizenship applications will continue to be accepted until 30th September 2020. In the case of investors who manage to obtain a residence card, but do not manage to submit their citizenship application by the stated date these may be transferred to the updated programme, once its details have been released, and if they qualify.

The Maltese Government is still to announce what amendments will be made to the current scheme; but it has indicated its intention to further boost the economy while ensuring that the high-quality checks being conducted on all applicants are not compromised.
